Here are some of the alternative courses of treatments for urinary tract infections. Discuss these methods with your doctor to make sure they are safe for you to try. Unfortunately, some medical conditions will restrict your options for un-medicated course of treatment.
1. Unsweetened blueberry juice and/or unsweetened cranberry juice. Drinking 3-5 8 ounce glasses of the unsweetened juice will limit the bacteria that is causing the infection in your urinary tract.
2. Plenty of water. You should be drinking 1 8 ounce glass of water for every waking hour to help your body flush the toxins and maintain proper hydration.
3. Vitamin C can be your best friend when it comes to UTIs.By increasing your vitamin C you can boost your immune system which in turn increases the power to fight the bad bacteria that causes the urinary tract infection.
4. Relax, avoid stress. Your body will decrease its ability to fight against intruders when it is overstressed, under rested and overworked. Take a break, a nap and just give yourself time to unwind.
5. Eat healthier. Increase the water soluble foods that you consume. Try to eat at least 3 portions of water soluble foods a day. Limit sugars, caffeine, chocolate and fats.

does Cystex® work for urinary tract infection and what can help a urinary tract infection fast?
Loverboy asked on Fri, 02 Apr, 2010
ok see my girl has a urinary tract infection but she cant go to the d.r and i hate seeing her in pain (she is crying in the bathroom and she won't leave the bathroom) please help
oh and ps can i Get IT?? FROM HER?? if so how?
Michael Scarn replied on Fri, 02 Apr, 2010
i don't think so

Cystex's active ingredient is Methenamine, which is a type of salt. It is meant to treat urinary tract infections, so it should work for that so long as you make sure she takes it for about two days beyond when she stops showing any sypmtoms. I've used Amoxicillin (antibiotic) and it definitely works.
Make sure she gets lots of water, does not eat much sugar (sugar feeds infections), tell her to sit up on the toilet when she pees because it's important that her bladder completely empties, and tell her to take a hot shower and try to relax (really warm water can help relax tension and may help in getting some discharge out).
Staying hydrated is /very/ important.
If it is at all possible, try to get her to a doctor.

The only way to cure the infection is to take antibiotics prescribed by a doctor. Some OTC medications can help reduce symptoms, but they will NOT CURE the infection. She needs to see a doctor ASAP. Left untreated, the infection will spread and cause kidney damage and other serious problems.

She needs to go see a doctor because it will get worse and lead to a kidney infection. In the meantime, drink cranberry juice or buy cranberry pills and you can buy over the counter medicine for these infections, but even when those make her feel better she still will have the infection and they do NOT cure a urinary infection. Please tell her to go to the doctor.
